Summary: An area of snow will move into central South Dakota this morning, then progress eastward into northeast South Dakota by late morning and early afternoon. A brief period of light freezing rain or sleet is possible on the back edge of precipitation as it departs. Potential exists for roads to become slick at times from a light glaze of ice. South winds gusting from 25 to 35 mph will bring areas of light blowing and drifting snow as well. Snowfall amounts will generally be around an inch or less. Temperatures will warm above freezing through the morning into early afternoon. Allow extra time to reach your destination and check the latest road conditions before departing.

Summary: An area of precipitation is crossing western and central South Dakota at this time. Snow is changing to light freezing rain where temperatures are still below freezing, which may lead to a thin glaze of ice on roadways and sidewalks. Temperatures are rising to above freezing early this morning, but a thin layer of ice may remain and cause slick conditions during the morning commute. Allow a few extra minutes to arrive at your destination this morning.

Summary: ...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTHEASTERN WYOMING AND FAR SOUTHWESTERN SOUTH DAKOTA... .Dry air will spread into portions of northeastern Wyoming and far southwestern South Dakota on Wednesday, leading to relative humidities as low as 15 percent. West winds may exceed 30 mph through the afternoon. The combination of low humidity and gusty winds could support critical fire weather conditions Wednesday afternoon. The National Weather Service in Rapid City has issued a Fire Weather Watch for gusty winds and low relative humidity, which is in effect from Wednesday morning through Wednesday evening. * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 315 Southern Campbell, 317 Weston County Plains and 322 Fall River County Area. * WINDS...West 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 15 percent. * IMPACTS...The combination of gusty winds and low relative humidity would produce critical fire weather conditions.
