Summary: The National Weather Service in Aberdeen has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 3 PM CDT /2 PM MDT/ this afternoon to 10 PM CDT /9 PM MDT/ this evening. * AFFECTED AREA...In South Dakota, Stanley, Sully, Hughes, Hyde, Jones, Lyman and Buffalo. * WINDS...East 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 18 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that ignite will spread rapidly and become difficult to control or suppress.

Special Weather Statement issued May 15 at 2:57PM CDT by NWS Aberdeen SD

Summary: The combination of increasing southeast wind gusts up to 25-30 mph and afternoon relative humidity values of around 20 percent or less will create near critical fire weather conditions across central South Dakota Saturday afternoon. Conditions will begin to improve by early evening as winds diminish and relative humidities recover.
