Beach Hazards Statement issued October 17 at 1:59PM PDT until October 19 at 11:00PM PDT by NWS Portland OR

Summary: * WHAT...Sneaker waves possible. * WHERE...North and Central Coast of Oregon, and South Washington Coast. * WHEN...For the first Beach Hazards Statement, from this afternoon through Saturday evening. For the second Beach Hazards Statement, from Sunday afternoon through Sunday evening. * IMPACTS...Waves can run up significantly farther on a beach than normal, including over rocks and jetties. Sneaker waves can suddenly knock people off of their feet and quickly pull them into the frigid ocean which may lead to serious injury or drowning. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A Beach Hazards Statement is issued when sneaker waves create potentially life-threatening conditions in the surf zone. Caution should be used when in or near the water. Always keep an eye on the waves, and be especially watchful of children and pets.

Summary: * WHAT...High elevation snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to 4 to 8 inches. * WHERE...Cascades of Whatcom and Skagit Counties including Rainy Pass. Heaviest accumulation above 4500 feet. * WHEN...From 11 PM Saturday to 11 PM PDT Sunday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow accumulations will occur above 4000 feet. People planning on visiting the backcountry should plan accordingly for winter weather conditions.

Travel could be very difficult.

Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.
