High Surf Advisory issued January 31 at 3:32AM ChST until February 2 at 4:00PM ChST by NWS Tiyan GUSummary: * WHAT...Large breaking waves of 8 to 11 feet and dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...High Surf for north facing reefs of the Marianas. High Risk of Rip Currents for north and east facing reefs. * WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 4 PM ChST Monday. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Surf is already elevated due to a complex mixture of swells moving through the region, generated by distant systems. As a shear line descends into the islands and a pulse of northerly swell moves into the region, hazardous surf around 9 feet for north facing reefs and dangerous rip currents along north and east facing reefs are expected to develop.
