Rip Current Statement issued March 14 at 3:26PM ChST until March 16 at 4:00PM ChST by NWS Tiyan GU

Summary: * WHAT...Large breaking waves of 11 to 14 feet and dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...North and east facing reefs of the Marianas. * WHEN...Until 4 PM ChST Monday. * IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A large northerly swell combined with a north secondary swell produced by a strong mid-latitude synoptic systems are producing hazardous surf along north facing reefs and a high risk of rip currents along north and east facing reefs. Surf is expected to build to near the 15 foot threshold meaning it wont take much to breech in to high surf warning territory. Then, the swell is expected to become north-northwesterly late in the weekend or early next week, possibly producing hazardous surf along west facing reefs. This advisory may need to be extended further than Monday afternoon.
